1) Study the Minnesota Motorcycle/Motorized Bicycle Manual Click to download the Motorcycle Manual, This manual is in PDF format. First-time PDF users need to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this manual.
The manual is also available at all driver's license exam stations, pick up a copy at a DVS exam station or call us and we'll mail you one.
2) Go to a Driver and Vehicle Services exam station. You must:
Have a Minnesota driver’s license.
Pass the state knowledge test for the motorcycle instruction permit.
If you are under 18:
Before you can obtain your MN Motorcycle Permit you must attend a Basic RiderCourse (BRC).
After completing the BRC, MN residents under 18 can follow the steps above and obtain their permit.
